Umm....

When I arrived home tonight, I heard the unique sound of Eli "coughing" when I opened the door (he doesn't really bark, he doesn't really whine, he just sort of makes this hoarse-sounding cough). I looked up and saw cute, adorable pup wagging his tail waiting for me at the top of the stairs. Aww...how....cu.... WHAT?!?!

Um, Eli is crated all day.

(It's hard to show, but the door is NOT open, it's still latched. He somehow got the whole front of the crate to collapse IN to the crate (where he was) - I have no idea how.)

Is "Houdini" a Biblical name?

(Luckily, it doesn't look like he chewed or pee'd or anything wrong in the house...whew!)

I'm pretty sure that the name Houdini isn't biblical, but I see an odd similarity between the names Eli and Ian...and, looks like they both have the trouble-making gene in common too :) So glad he didn't ruin anything!!

ah yes. i had a pup who was a master at getting out of his crate too. except he would somehow get the door unlatched & open. this was *bad* when he was really young. he would race through the house like the Tasmanian Devil. toilet paper. laundry. pens. paper. you name it. it was always a special treat to come home, let me tell you. thank God he finally grew out of that. being a tornado that is. eventually we just stopped the charade of crating him. ;-)

Ruh-roh!

Good thing he was a good pup for you while he was out!

So you have a little doggy escape artist on your hands, eh? Glad nothing was damaged. Looks like it's time for a new kennel! (And maybe you could make Houdini his middle name.)

Yikes!

Some dogs have that "escape" talent.

What he lacks in containment he makes up for in cuteness.

Right?

Glad nothing got chewed or peed on.

While I can COMPLETELY understand where you are coming from and why you would crate him during the day in the first place, I hope that he turns out to be very well house-trained and that he can prove himself to be a very good doggie so he doesn't have to be crated daily forever. He is SO cute! I'm so glad you guys have him now. Just look at that happy face!

I'm no expert but I think Houdini is in the bible y'know...after all he's the guy who first told the Easter Bunny to hide the eggs. And flying reindeer...only a master illusionist could've come up with that one.

You should put up a hidden camera to catch him in the act. Sneaky pup. :)
