If you have not yet seen Sarah Maclachlan’s video for “World on Fire” do so as soon as you possibly can. It says more than I can convey. There is a part in all of this that we can choose to play.
I watched it with my husband on Oprah (I forced him to watch it actually) and we were both so moved. We decided that each month we would donate $75 (a year tuition for a girl to go to school in Africa). To think that for the price of a nice dinner out, we could send a child to school for a year is uplifting and heart wrenching at the same time.
A few years ago, we had the opportunity to go to Africa and see the devestation and meet the people with a church group. Since then, we have been donating money specifically for the education of the children. It costs $6 for a school uniform for children. For many of these children it is only the cost of the uniform that stands in their way. If you would like to know more about how you can help in specific ways, I have a list I can send you.
