Creating Memories Together

For my entire life, the only vacations I have ever taken have been to see family. In 2007, LM and I want to take a vacation to a destination of our choosing.

To that end, we are brainstorming where we would go in the US if we could go anywhere and we’re looking for insight from people who have ‘been there, done that’.

What would you recommend?

Do you count Hawaii? Best place I've ever, EVER been, and I've been all over the world (except Asia).

DisneyWorld also rocks...

The year we graduated from school my husband and I and a bunch of friends travelled cross country for the summer...there are so many great things to see in our country, some of my favorites (that I think are appropriate for kids too)

Vegas/Grand Canyon: You can go to Vegas for 3 days and Grand Canyon for 4. Definitely the Grand Canyon lives up to the hype. It is amazing. Also, you can do the whole week at Grand Canyon and hike down, white water raft and then hike up. (I did not do the rafting, but hubby did and loved it)

Graceland! It was totally cool and you can go to Nashville etc. while down there.

California coast. We did San Franscico baseball park (Bell Field or something?) which my husband and the guys loves and then went up the coast. It was cool and there was alot to see, inlcuding wine country. Don't know how much LM would like it though...

I loved the Badlands and Mt. Rushmore/CrazyHorse. Totally cool to see, but doesn't take too long.

The Outerbanks in NC, or Hilton Head/Savanah (only 45 Minutes apart) was good. Beach and history. Savanah is America's best kept secret...really great, really fun!

Newport RI, with all the mansions...Hubby liked that. Then you could head to Plymouth MA, for the plantation, Mayflower, Rock...then Fenway Park and Boston.

Ohhh, OOOOOOUUUUU. I know, how about Camping in Maine? Really fun.

I was a huge fan of Texas...Dallas and San Antonio. You could go to a Dude Ranch. I did it when I ws LM's age. I wasn't really into horses, but it was the best vacation ever. EVER. Bandera Texas. Silver Spur Dude Ranch! It was AWESOME!

Sorry, I am a big fan of people taking vacations to see our country! Sorry to go on so long!

I vote for the Grand Canyon too. I've been twice and man oh man.... I've yet to see a picture that does it actual justice.

A place I'd like to go to is Havasu Falls in the Grand Canyon. I think you have to make special reservations though, as I don't believe they let too many people in at a time.

I do love Cape Cod!! Everything from fresh Chowdah ... to the Lavender farm, go carts, beaches, beaches, beaches, ....

Course, Disney is VERY cool. I hated to admit it, but we loved it when we went, and we're going back later this year. It truly is "magical".

I've been to several places in Arizona -- all wonderful.

I've been to Acapulco and Cozumel... FANTASTIC (and pretty darn cheap considering!)....

There is always the state parks -- Yellowstone, etc. I've always wanted to DRIVE through a huge redwood tree ... someday we'll go to the Redwood Forest. Someday...

I can't wait to learn what you choose!

One of my absolute favorite cities in the world is San Francisco (and that's after having been to 14 countries).

They have all sorts of fun stuff and the Exploratorium (a science musuem) there is a blast for both kids and adults!

He's a kid -- you pretty much HAVE to take him to Disneyland before he gets too old and thinks it's for kids. You can stay at the Disneyland Hotel and take the monorail into the park -- it's such a cool experience!

First of all, you guys rock!!

I should qualify this by saying that we're going on a Disney cruise this winter (my family's choice) and that's about as much Disney as I care to do.

LM had suggested the Grand Canyon but I didn't say that before as I didn't want to sway the votes!

I'll keep you posted!

As a reward for rocking, can you PLEASE tell us about the pottery class?

Don't be coy!
