It Should Suck

I absotively posilutely have to get a new vacuum cleaner. My hoover upright (with bag) has been around for oh, about 8 years and has filled its duties and is now ready to retire. With a dog and two cats, there is a requirement that our household vacuum actually suck up fur and the Hoover has decided this is no longer in its job description so we need to part ways.

I have read rave reviews (on blogs) about the Dyson Animal. As LM's dad pointed out, it didn't get rave reviews from Consumer Reports. So....

I NEED INPUT!!

What do you have, what does your sister or your mom have? Do you/they love it? Do you have pets? Do you use the tools? Give me the scoop!
(Please?)

I have the Dyson DC14 All Access (the one only available at Best Buy) and I LOVE, LOVE, LOOOOOVVVVEEE it.

I too was concerned about consumer reports, but finally all of the good USER reviews I read convinced me to give it a try. I used to make L do all the vacuuming, but now I totally don't mind doing it myself!

It's uber-quite (for a vacuum), which I really like. Loud noises kind of freak me out. I like its long attachment cord, and I love the long plug-in cord- I can vacuum three rooms without ever having to unplug it.

I've gotten to where I even use it in our bathrooms rather than dragging out the broom. If you have stairs, it is really easy to use the stair attachment and the attachment cord can go all the way to the top with the vacuum setting at the bottom. It's brilliant!

The only place I don't use it is my wood floors, but I intend to get the wood floor attachment, I just haven't done so yet.

Happy vacuuming, whatever choice you make!

i have the euro-pro shark roadster bagless canister vacuum. gheesh, that's a mouthful ... you can find it here. it's a powerful little vac. the only drawback is that i have to empty the canister pretty frequently, espeically with 2 cats. still, it's light-weight and portable and emptying the canister is pretty darn easy.

good luck finding what you're looking for! :)

I haven't posted about it yet, but I did get the purple Dyson and LOVE it. I'm not great about reading instruction manuals and it comes with about 8 attachments but one of my boys is intuitive about these sorts of things and he's vacuumed the stairs, the floors, all the rugs, etc. Emptying the canister (after you take pics and ooh and ahh appreciatively) just requires a pull of the trigger. He had to show me that, too. I was making it much more difficult.

Summary: Ecstasy!

I vote for Dyson. At one point, I had three cats and a dog. It cleaned my carpets really well. In fact, one had just come back from the rug cleaners and when I used the Dyson on it a few days after its return, tons of animal fur and other stuff was sucked up.
